 Robinson's Draught Flagon Cider

Draught Cider Advert 1940'sAs this classic advertisement from the 1950's attests, you're certainly "on the best wicket" with Robinson's Cider but although it does it for us, we can't necessarily promise you will "Live appley ever after" as a result of drinking it!

Our newly released Robinson's Flagon Cider is a revival of the product that became the mainstay of the Robinson Cider business in the old days. It is only available on draught and is quite different to Robinson's Fine Dry Vintage Cider, which is only available in bottles. Try one after the other and you will see for yourself.

It also contrasts strongly with the commercial brands: Robinson's Flagon Cider should be served cool but not chilled; it is gently sparkling, with only half the "gasiness" of the commercial brands and it is slightly hazy. It also has the wonderful apple flavour that is and always has been the hallmark of Robinson's Cider.

Robsinson's Draught CiderSo why "Flagon" Cider? Well, as the number of agricultural workers diminished in the face of mechanisation and as the practise of including cider as part of their remuneration died away it became more difficult for local people to obtain and enjoy good cider in the way they always had. It was of course the number of jobs that declined, not the numbers or the thirst of the locals so Robinson's simply started to make and serve the sort of cider you might have taken in your flagon to work in the fields each day. And then as now, it really hit the spot with the people who knew.

As something of a revival is this really a "new" product? Best leave the last word on that to Geoffrey Chaucer. "There is nothing new that it nas old. Now up, now down, like a bocket in a well."
